As pediatric dentists, we specialize in oral health care for
children, infants, and teenagers.
Our goal is to promote excellent oral health while motivating your
child to become knowledgeable
and responsible regarding dental care. Our office is dedicated
to providing the highest quality care
utilizing the finest materials and progressive techniques. We
work with each family to ensure that
obtaining dental care will be a pleasant experience for all.
Dr. James McAveeney
("Dr. Jim")
After
completing his undergraduate education at the University
of Massachusetts, Amherst, Dr. McAveeney graduated from Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine with the Alumni Award in Pediatric Dentistry.
This was followed by two years of post-graduate training
in pediatric dentistry at Boston Floating Hospital.
Dr. McAveeney is a past president of
the Greater Nashua Dental Society and has served as a
Trustee of the New Hampshire Dental Society as well as
the New Hampshire Dental Society Foundation. He
frequently volunteers his dental services at the Greater
Nashua Dental Connection, a non-profit, low-cost dental
clinic where he is also a founding board member.
Dr. McAveeney has been named a Top Pediatric Dentist by
New Hampshire Magazine.
His activities outside the practice
include gardening, scuba diving, weight lifting, travel,
and watercolor painting. He
resides in Merrimack with his wife Nancy. They are the
proud parents of two daughters, Corey and Emily.
Dr. Andrew Cheifetz
("Dr. Andrew")
After
graduating from Brown University, Dr. Cheifetz
(pronounced SHAY-fits) began his dental career at the
University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
Penn Dental chose him as a University Scholar due to his
academic achievements, research and teaching interests,
and his extensive volunteer work. The dental school also
presented him with the Community Dentistry Pediatric
Dental Health Award and the Academy of Dentistry for
Persons with Disabilities Award. Additionally, he was
president and founder of the Pediatric Dentistry
Society. Concurrent with his dental degree, Dr. Cheifetz
obtained a Master’s of Science in Education with a
specialization in higher education. Following his dual
degrees at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Cheifetz
advanced his education as a resident in pediatric
dentistry at Children’s Hospital Boston, and the Harvard
School of Dental Medicine where he published his own
research, “Prevalence of Bruxism and Associated
Correlated in Children and Adolescents as Reported by
Parents,” in the Journal of Dentistry for Children.
Dr. Cheifetz volunteers his time teaching at the
Children’s Hospital Dental Clinic. He is proud of his
time as a volunteer dentist at the dental clinic of the
Oglala Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation in Pine Ridge,
South Dakota. Dr. Cheifetz enjoys rollerblading,
learning to play the banjo, and scuba diving. Currently
he lives in Amherst with his wife, Jennifer, their
children, Cooper and Layla, and their dog, Gracie.
