Our PhilosophyAt Amherst Pediatric Dental Associates our doctors strive to provide outstanding dental care in a caring, comfortable, and fun atmosphere. We specialize in oral health care for infants, children, and teenagers and we work together with each family to ensure that obtaining dental care is a pleasant experience for both parent and child. What is a Pediatric Dentist?
Amherst Pediatric Dental Associates particularly excels at making children feel comfortable. We designed our office such that the youngest infant or the oldest college student will feel relaxed; our reception area has an interactive playscape, 220 gallon saltwater aquarium, and flat-screen display. To further comfort your child, we promise to explain every procedure thoroughly; this method, known as Tell-Show-Do, proves to allay many children's fears. In fact, if a pediatric dental office is a new experience, you will be surprised at your child's positive reaction in our office. Unlike other dentists, we welcome parents to stay with their children; we won't separate you from your child. At Amherst Pediatric Dental Associates, we stay focused on current pediatric research such as the recommendation from the ADA and the American Academy of Pediatrics that children should have a dental exam by their first birthday. Just as an infant has well-child visits to the pediatrician, fostering a dental home in our office creates a foundation for your child's healthy smile. Visit our 1st Birthday=1st Visit page. Prevention
FluorideFluoride, an essential element of a preventive dental program, strengthens both the developing and existing dentition. We believe that topical fluoride in the office is an excellent means to help prevent decay. Only twice yearly, these fluoride treatments have been proven to decrease the incidence of decay and resultant cost of fillings. SealantWe highly advise the application of sealants as a decay-preventive measure. A sealant is a non-toxic resin (plastic) applied to the occlusal (biting) surface of the molar (back) teeth. This procedure is easy and non-invasive. For more information regarding fluoride and sealants please visit our Dental Topics page.
